Clothing baggage drop-off

If you intend using the clothing transfer to the finish please collect a colour coded bag applicable to your start area zoning ie it is the same colour as your chest bib. More information>>  To ensure that we have time to sort the clothing bags at the finish prior to your arrival it is essential that all bags be deposited well before each start time.  This is to ensure that the few windows of opportunity to move trucks across the bridge are utilised and our officials in the Royal Botanic Gardens then have the time to unpack and sort each of the trucks.

It is a well-known fact that the transfer of baggage from a start area to the finish is one of the hardest roles logistically and the one that often causes more angst with entrants than anything else.  This year we have enrolled a significant larger group of officials to manage this area and we are asking for both your co-operation and patience.  Remember the person sorting and distributing these clothing bags is a volunteer who has given up their Sunday to help you.
It is our operational plan to have all baggage trucks leave the start area before the commence of each event however it is still possible that the clothing you deposited at the start may well arrive at the finish after you have – please be mindful of that.

All baggage and discarded clothing left at the start area will be collected by volunteers and taken to a charitable organisation.  Please be mindful that the clothing you discard needs to be collected and depositing as close as possible to the street kerbing on either side of the start area would be appreciated.  Clothing discarded onto the roadway becomes a trip hazard and the person who gets tripped could well be you!

Clothing baggage collection

Once again in 2009 the sorting and collection of baggage at the finish has received considerable planning and the number of volunteers assigned to this area has been doubled.  However once again we must reiterate that everyone working in this area is a volunteer and they are there trying to assist you so please be patient at all times.

Each event has been colour coded to assist with seeding at the start this same colour coding will also be used to assist the sorting of bib ranges in each event.  Therefore it is imperative that you place your clothing bag into the CORRECTLY ASSIGNED TRUCK.

The collection point for baggage will once again be in a  specific area on the Parade Ground of the Royal Botanic Gardens, right next to the Recovery Village so there is no other structures and plenty of room in the vicinity.

Once you finish your event you will be asked to continue through the Opera House forecourt and around the eastern side of Government House to the Parade Ground where you will firstly collect your baggage before proceeding to the Recovery Village.  Follow the arrow displaying BAGGAGE on the VMS located beyond the Opera House gates.

Each event will have its specific bays in the baggage area with colour coding and in sequential numeric order so it is easy for us to lay out and to find your bag when you arrive.

Of course this doesn’t mean that there may be times when a lot of runners arrive at the same time so we still ask that you be patient at the baggage collection point.
